Faster Than Light Neutrinos

In September, a huge physics discovery made headlines; scientists had timed neutrinos traveling faster than light speed.

They arrived at their destination only 60 nanoseconds early, but that doesn’t matter, it still means that a lot of our understanding of physics is outright wrong!

It was a startling discovery.

So startling, that I told several people about it, but I wasn’t ready to post it here without some collaboration.

Turns out it was bad cables.

Just jiggle that third one from the left - I think it’s mangling the timestamps…

After taking about 3,000 pictures, I might have to think about turning around and taking a different route.

The picture says it all - more pictures (and info) at the original story!

Luckily, the whole tree wouldn’t fit into the portal or it would just fall straight through!

Awesome Geeky Camera Lens Pillow Thing!

If you’re into cameras, you know that it’s mostly about the lens. If you’re into comfort (or sleeping) you know it’s mostly about the pillow.

If you’re into photography and comfort?

This, Bud’s, for you!

(Okay, so I was just trying to be cool, alright?)

This larger version sells for $60.00, and, in my opinion, is the coolest of the three.

This (and the other smaller) version sells for $30. Still quite cool!

I’m a little curious as to how they manage a 50 millimeter focal length with a lens this size (still want one though!).

I’d rather the update had focused on making male and female instances more compatible, but at least the project isn’t dead!

It looks like disk drives are SMALLER than they used to be…

In the not terribly distant past, the two computers that ruled in the home market were the Commodore 64, and the Atari 800.If you were one of the lucky ones, you used a floppy drive instead of a cassette tape (I had both experiences at various times). The images below show how much things have changed since then. The Atari 800 replacement drive is significantly smaller than the volume that a single 5-1/4 disk occupied, but holds 90,000 times the data.Ain’t technology grand?

Here’s a view of the new drive in question (a custom job, of course). That’s the original Atari 800 hidden under it.

Here’s a perhaps more telling view of the replacement drive sitting on top of the original!(And don’t forget, the replacement holds 90,000 times the data!)
