All I can say about this stunningly beautiful animal is “Wow…”

Earth Hour 8:00 - 9:00 PM TONIGHT, Switch off those lights to save the planet!

Earth Hour is a kind of a demonstration to tell the world leaders that we (the world) actually do CARE about what happens to the planet, that we would like action to be taken to slow and halt global warming and that it would be a nice change of direction if we had reason to believe that our children might be able to breathe as adults.

SydneyOperaHouse
Australia is where the Earth Hour idea started last year, and the Sydney Opera house is one of many public buildings on six continents that will go dark from 8:00 - 9:00 local.

GoogleEarthHour
After I had already posted this article, I saw that Google had a special display in honor of Earth Hour, so I came back and added the image (plus it looks cool!).

Possibly the best MMO EVER…. And it’s FREE!

DungeonRunners is the first humor-based MMO I’ve seen, and it’s as smooth as any game out there.

You can play for free or pay 5$/Month to use of some of the more powerful items (NOT required!)

DungeonRunners is written so that the humor shows through in everything, and this contributes toward making the free version more fun than any pay-only MMO I’ve played!

DungeonRunner even makes an awesome solo game (I’ve played solo for months so far)!

DU2
The free game is payed for by that advertisement at the top (which is not obtrusive past the first few minutes)

DU8
Like just about every other MMO out there, there are quests to solve, if you want to, and rewards to receive for success.

DU4
DungeonRunners uses a very Diablo-esque item and storage system (I know several good friends who are slapping their heads at this point - I’m a bit of a Diablo Fanboy). Diablo, however, would never have an item called the “Aggro’d Rusty Scale Headgear of the Charged Penguin”!

DU7
There are numerous environments in the game, from Forest Glade to Desert, and from Arctic Tundra to Lava Pit. Here’s a view of one of the “standard” dungeons.

DU8
Here’s a mission being offered in one of the towns.

DU10
My inventory is full so I’m using a WayPoint scroll to return to town (it’s a Town Portal for any other Diablo Fanboys out there).

DU11
Just to show some variety, here’s a very hellish view of The Tainted Crypt not too far off of the 7th level of Algernon.

(If anybody wants to look me up, I usually play on Server 3, and my character name is Etherium!)

ClueRay - Are you tired of not having a clue?

It’s been a while since we’ve seen any real newness in the search engine scene, but this might be it!

ClueRay uses a combination of both keyword searches and symantic (context / meaning) searches to determine the best results for your query. Our early tests certainly proved to be positive!

Besides just the advantages of adding context to your search, ClueRay also has plenty of options for how to display the results, what priorities you want

ClueRay1
ClueRay isn’t terribly fast, but it can save a lot of time by giving you the right answer up front!

POTRTP: Sorry everyone, I HAD to show this!

This doesn’t actually count as being Rick Rolled, so I’m not, you know, attacking here or anything, but I found this chart hilarious anyway!

AWESOME Online Fantasy Chess(ish) Game

I haven’t found many great online games outside of arcade games, but Tactics is fun, intriguing, and very well designed!

You can use the default “team” or design your own using a point system and playing pieces that are Magi, Clerics, or Warriors. After choosing your team, you can bump up their abilities (for extra points), and then play a single (vs CPU) game or a multi-player game.

Even if you don’t like normal chess, give it a try, you might be surprised!

Tactics100 2
This is the screen where you buy your “team”. You can name them, change their abilities, pick the board style (grass, stone, or dirt), change your team color, etc

Tactics100 3
Here’s a shot of one of my warriors in the process of getting (mildly) clobbered by an opponent warrior (don’t worry, he wasn’t hurt… Much!)

Tactics100 5
I got this shot just as the Mage attacked one of the clerics (the game is fully, and nicely animated). This pic also shows what the grass board looks like.

Everybody has secrets…

This post topic is a little more dramatic than most of the ones we do…

From the site:

“PostSecret is an ongoing community art project where people mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a homemade postcard.”

Caution: Some of the entries on this site can be disturbing!
