R.I.P. Benoit Mandelbrot
While I’ve never met him personally, I have friends who knew him, and I’ve been familiar with his work for many years. He tended toward the eccentric </understatement>, but most of the coolest people do.
He changed the worlds of mathematics and art, and he changed how the two relate to one another (he also contributed his genius to the advancement of several external fields of science).
Rest In Peace, Benoit Mandelbrot.
Mr. Mandelbrot.
Everyone knows the chicks dig guys with big brains…
And this, of course, is a representation of his most famous contribution to mathematics, the now-called Mandelbrot Set - often sited as the most complex object ever discovered in the complex plain (and startlingly easy to generate / explore mathematically!).

The Guild is a video Felicia Day’s (5 minutes per episode) video series about a loveable, neurotic gamer girl and her guild in an off-screen MMORPG.
The show starts with the characters beginning to meet in real life for the first time and focuses heavily on how they learn to relate to the real world.
The show began very low budget, but has garnered major support (and several awards) since it’s inception.
Each episode starts with Cyd doing an update on her Webcam Journal and then moves into the story that led to that update.
