POTRTP: HUMAN UPDATE!!!!
POTRTP: Picture Of The Random Time Period
Enjoy!

I’d rather the update had focused on making male and female instances more compatible, but at least the project isn’t dead!

[This is another article suggested by Danny Ashton - Thanks again, Danny!]
This is similar to his last article (the "Deadliest Robots" one). This one is Sci Fi weapons. Unlike the robots, ALL of these are real (that was true of only three of the robots)!
So next time you need to go all Rambo on someone, you can do it in high-tech, sci-fi style with this list!

The XM-25 Airburst Weapons System (Grenade Launcher) - can be programmed to explode at any distance up to 700 meters, or on impact. It can be deployed in seconds and attack targets behind cover!

The Railgun - pretty much the definitive sci-fi weapon! Projectiles fire at a velocity that causes air to literally burn!
( Note that the picture in the article is actually taken from a much less… High end project, here )

The so-called "Rods From God" is a space-born weapon system that simply drops 20 foot long tungsten "darts" from several miles above the earth! The energy released on impact is similar to a nuclear blast sans radiation!

[This article was suggested by Danny Ashton - Thanks as always, Danny; sorry I’m so far behind on my emails!]
This is a pretty straight forward geek post; a list (and short write-up) of the top 20 deadliest robots (based, presumably on the author’s opinion and / or childhood horrors).
Note that, as mentioned in the headline, three of these horrific death dealers are REAL ROBOTS (all three used by the U.S. Military - big shock there, huh?).
Look and be horrified! Terrified? Annoyed? Uh… Amused?

I couldn’t miss an opportunity to post a Matrix robot, could I? Fortunately, no, this is not one of the real ones!

She gets included for being the hottest ‘bot on the list, though surprisingly, this is actually arguable…

This is Max(imillian). I used to collect tarantulas (yes, for real). Max gave my largest with a terrifying 7 inch leg span) her name. That is the impact this robot had on me as a child!

"We Feel Fine" is a web app that tracks how people are feeling all over the world.
There are several filtering criteria, including age group, emotional state, location, gender, the weather conditions, or the timeframe of interest, and the displays are graphically very interesting
You can even "catch" people’s comments (the animated circles), or pictures they’ve included (the animated squares).
Overall? Very cool!

The launch page gives a good idea of the spartan, relaxed, but still technical feel of the app.

This screen shows all of the moods (spot colors) flying around. You can grab any one and see the comment left by the specific user (the circles) or the picture they uploaded (the squares).

There are numerous views for looking at the data. This one (called "Murmurs") shows a continuously scrolling list of comments left that match the details of your mood search.

In the not terribly distant past, the two computers that ruled in the home market were the Commodore 64, and the Atari 800.If you were one of the lucky ones, you used a floppy drive instead of a cassette tape (I had both experiences at various times). The images below show how much things have changed since then. The Atari 800 replacement drive is significantly smaller than the volume that a single 5-1/4 disk occupied, but holds 90,000 times the data.Ain’t technology grand?
Here’s a view of the new drive in question (a custom job, of course). That’s the original Atari 800 hidden under it.
Here’s a perhaps more telling view of the replacement drive sitting on top of the original!(And don’t forget, the replacement holds 90,000 times the data!)

OddMall is basically a craft show / flea market for the strange, weird, or odd.
It’s a Bizarre Bazaar!
It’s staged and organized by Artist Andy Hopp (who also runs the local "Con on the Cob" gaming convention).
If you can get to the Hudson, Ohio area at the right time, it’s definitely worth the trip!

These customized monster/demon dolls are amongst the more ODD things to see at OddMall - and the most interesting!

The main entryway normally has live entertainment, this time it included belly dancers!

The plushy monsters from The Goblin Toybox are always fun to check out, and the girl who runs the booth is always friendly!

If plushy monsters aren’t your thing, perhaps you’d care for some plushy food? Besides the awesome sushi shown here, I’ve seen all manner of toast, pastries, fruits, sandwiches, etc. Something for every taste!
Well… Mostly.
The blog editor I use seems to have disappeared. I spent some time trying to find another one, but eventually ended up managing to transfer the old (somewhat gimped) one to my new machine.
You guys need to get on the ball and get your friends, brothers, aunts, grandmothers, etc to start reading this site so I can pay for a REAL blog editor!
Until then, Weeeeerrrreeeee BAAAAAaaaaaccckkkk!

We’ve reviewed a few web-based diagramming apps in the past, but they keep getting better! Diagram.ly is the newest (of our reviews), and one of the most full-featured I’ve seen.
You might want to mark this as a resource for the next time you need diagrams, charts, or drag-n-drop illustrations!

With lots of menus, buttons, and even context menus, Diagram.ly doesn’t seem to be missing much from a feature perspective! (Note: element rotation seems to be the glaring exception).

Here’s a selection of some of the element categories available for use!

Here’s kind of an overview screen shot showing some of my mental meanderings. And I know what you’re thinking - that robot with the arrow-eyes is an amazing artistic creation worthy of being put in The Louvre in Paris, right? No? What?!? Who said "More like "The Loo" in Paris?!?
