Reproductions of the FIRST home computer…

No, it’s not the MITS Altair. It’s a lesser known computer that predated the Altair by several years. For the record, it also predated the microprocessor and was done with standard integrated circuits.

The computer was called the Kenbak-1. It had Star Trek style blinky lights (yes, LIGHTS, NOT LEDs) on the front, came with 256 BYTES of memory, and is now available as a very authentic reproduction for $999.00 (hey, if you’ve got the money, it would be cool!).

  1. 256 bytes? Fine– pick some other number.
